No BVI review is complete without a complete look into Scrub Island. Part of my Scrub Island British Virgin Islands Reviews includes the fabulous birthday celebration that my over loving hubby gifted me. With all honesty, Scrub Island is one of the best vacation gifts he has given me so far. If you have been following me for a while you know that my favorite type of travel is beach vacations! And like the blogging queen that I am, I just had to include all the details of my BVI experience!
Scrub Island is one of the best Caribbean islands to visit! With so many activities, beautiful resorts and breathtaking views, this Scrub Island British Virgin Islands Reviews will leave you booking your next flight to the BVI. Since it was my birthday, we went to the BVI in early September, which was great because we got the ease of the lower season and the beautiful weather as well.
Join me as I dive into the Scrub Island British Virgin Islands Reviews – Let’s talk about travel, accommodation, dining, and this overall beach destination!
The Travel Experience
First, to dive into this Scrub Island British Virgin Islands Reviews we have to discuss the traveling details for this Caribbean destination. Coming from Washington DC, we are a long way from the white sand and clear waters of the BVI. Therefore, it comes to no surprise that there is no easy way to get to paradise from D.C but thankfully, we were able to plan accordingly.
Buckle up because this is a long ride! From D.C the connection is to Atlanta. While in Atlanta, we get a bit closer to beautiful Caribbean islands in the San Juan airport. San Juan is the last connection via Delta Airways. Here, you can get a direct flight to the British Virgin Islands through Cape Air . If you’re like me, I can tolerate being a long amount of time on a plane however, the next part of our travel experience did come as a delight! Much of the ferry experience seemed as a delight, thanks to some Puerto Rican moonshine sold at the Tortola airport.
There is one more step left to reach our destination and that is a ferry to Scrub Island. Although many tourists decide to spend their beach vacation on the main island of the BVI, Tortola, my amazing hubby planned our BVI vacation to Scrub Island. Scrub Island is a private island where you can get the privacy you are looking for while being able to experience other BVI attractions. Thank God for the moonshine we picked up at the airport, it made the trip a more fun experience!
Part of my Scrub Island British Virgin Islands Reviews includes the accommodation and hotel experience! My hubby and I stayed at the Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina owned by the Marriott. There are different accommodation types at the resort. From ocean-view guest rooms, suites at Marina Village, and luxurious secluded hillside villas; there are plenty of options at this private island. All of the accommodation types at the resort have endless views of the Caribbean Sea and its surrounding islands. We decided to stay at one of the suites in Marina Village.
Because Scrub Island has a Marina, you can see people with their private boats stopping over and putting them at the dock. This was an amazing sight from our luxurious suite in which we could gaze upon yachts and boats of all sizes. In terms of the room, it was clean and well air-conditioned, the mattress and sheets were extremely comfortable, and the showers were hot and steady (I love super-hot water)! Included in our room were full high-end amenities that included a washer and dryer. One of my favorite things of the luxurious Marina Village suite is the full kitchen where you can order in a chef (I mean talk about the VIP treatment)!
Dining & Wining
Alright, I had to get summer ready for bikini season, but part of my Scrub Island British Virgin Islands Reviews MUST include all the delicious food! At the resort, there are dining options in addition to room service. Cardamom & Co is the resort’s signature restaurant and my personal favorite. Because we stayed at the resort slightly off-season it was really easy to dine here. However, I do recommend you make reservations in advance during peak season.
The menu consists of seafood, salad, and steaks. I had the Grilled Lobster and my hubby went with the Grilled Fish. The food to no surprise was amazing, both of our meals were tender, moist and overall just very satisfying. Although this restaurant is set out more for a dinner experience, I do recommend eating lunch at Donovan’s Reef Marina Bar and Grill. While here you can sit back and have a meal by the pool!
BONUS – For a special treat with your significant other, the resort does host private rooms for an intimate private dining experience (this was my birthday dinner experience, isn’t he amazing)!
Scrub Island British Virgin Islands Reviews | Activities
Spa Treatments | Relax & Unwind
Before I decided to get started with my BVI experience, I had to get myself ready for an amazing vacation body, mind, and soul. While in the resort, I had some deep tissue massage at the Ixora Spa. Running a business is very demanding. Which is why this overactive African NEEDED some serious muscle work before relaxation.
Some Water Fun!
One of the best things to do in the British Virgin Islands includes a variety of water activities. From swimming in turquoise blue waters, scuba diving and experiencing beautiful Caribbean beaches, Scrub Island is the key to many beach fun activities.
Let’s Go to the Beach | Scrub Island British Virgin Island Reviews
My Scrub Island BVI experience would not be complete without visiting the best beach destinations. There are a couple of high rated beach locations such as Pavilion Beach, Honeymoon Beach and North Beach. Out of all the beaches I visited, my absolute favorite is Scrub Island’s North Beach. This beach is stunning with gorgeous white sand, rock boulders, crystal clear waters, and hillside views; this Scrub Island beach is one you have to visit!
